A Christian Perspective

On
True Revival

(Luke 8:16 KJV) No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.

If you stand in a cave in total darkness and light a match or candle the place you stand in plus all that's around you becomes light, the candle or match light drives out the darkness. No matter how dark it is just a little light can be seen for miles away.

There is so much darkness in our world we need light to see but not all will come into the light to see because they love darkness. They will stumble and fall into outer darkness of eternal consequences, not knowing for the lack of truth and light what awaits their future not giving any thought to their fate after death.

Jesus said he was the light and the truth, of course as a Christian that is what I am supposed to say and believe. Many who go by the name of Christ when asked about the faith they have can only give clichés and some truth and are uncertain of the doctrines written in the bible, not even understanding the very basics of faith, repentance and obedience to God. Just ask any average church goer what is a revival and what does it mean? You get a variety of answers like a great moving of the Spirit or actually emotions, people getting touched by some inspiring message or any number of things that most will be pointed toward an emotional response of some kind, not to say emotions are bad and to discredit them, but to know the source and what was the stimulus for them. I get emotional when thinking on what Jesus did on the cross for me contemplating it long enough, so what ever I focus on that's what will be the source of my experience and if it is just for that I think revival is I missed the mark.

True Revival is coming from disobedience to Gods law to obedience and faith in Christ and the word of God.

Some come to Christ and never repent of there sins and in just a little while they are back out in the same old things as before they were saved or born again.

Hear what Jesus said about the parable of the sower;

(Luke 8:5 KJV) A sower went out to sow his seed: and as he sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured it. (Luke 8:6 KJV) And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as it was sprung up, it withered away, because it lacked moisture. (Luke 8:7 KJV) And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it. (Luke 8:8 KJV) And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit an hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried, He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. (Luke 8:9 KJV) And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be? (Luke 8:10 KJV) And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. (Luke 8:11 KJV) Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. (Luke 8:12 KJV) Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. (Luke 8:13 KJV) They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. (Luke 8:14 KJV) And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. (Luke 8:15 KJV) But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience. (Luke 8:16 KJV) No man, when he hath lighted a candle, covereth it with a vessel, or putteth it under a bed; but setteth it on a candlestick, that they which enter in may see the light.

So as you can read from the bible it's those who have an honest and good heart that will come to Jesus with himself truly sorry for his or her sins and accept Jesus as their only way of salvation, in no other name is their salvation. They hear the word and see with their mind and heart not just their ears. I have heard people say you can't use your mind to understand but the Spirit. He calls us by his Spirit and speaks to our heart and mind so we can understand what He is telling us, that is why we must think, that is why we have a mind, that is why He gave us the bible so we can;

Isa 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. Isa 1:19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: Isa 1:20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

These ones will hear the word and keep it or seize it in their hearts and not let go no matter what happens, even when prayers go seemingly unanswered. They begin bearing fruit as a tree and they do it with patience or endurance like the tree. The tree like us will go through the heat of summer and the blast of winter cold and snow, through fires, keeping the faith through it all even in temptations and trials, or whatever befalls them. I can think of brothers and sisters who in other places in our present world who even now are giving up the very lives for Jesus sake, laying their lives down even to death but that is victory for a believer death has no hold on him for absent from the body for a Christian is to be present with the Lord. So think and act on your faith, don't be just a hearer and not a doer, be a light in your place, not a secret agent Christian but one that shines for all to see Jesus!
