 Interview with Ted Kramer

by Greg Kramer

This assignment is an interview with my father, Ted Kramer on March 6, 2004 at 5:00 p.m.
The questions that asked:  What were the events in his life which formed his conscience.
The second question: What were the specifics he followed in his conscience in response to the Christian world view.
The third question was: What are the particular challenges his world view presents to me.
The first question that I asked my father was what events in his life formed his conscience?  My father’s answer was, “I was born a double, in other words I was a twin and together we shared the world.  Our beliefs and values in how we treated each other; we were different in how others, which I mean siblings who are not twins, treated one another.  When there was a disagreement we may hit each other, but our punches would be held back so as not to hurt and never hit one another in the face, never.  Hitting in the face was moral consciences between the two of us, it was a loyalty between the two of us that doesn’t exist between a lot of regular brothers and sisters; a bonding or commitment that existed even before we were born” (Kramer interviewee).
“As time went we joined the Boy Scouts which was held in the basement of the Christian Church.  It wasn’t organized by the church, but was offered to our group as a place to hold our meeting.  The Boy Scouts taught a moral code that was Christian based with there laws and their oath and as time went on we accepted that as part of our make up and we decided that the Boy Scout oath was the kind of life that we were going to live.  Consequently the Boy Scout laws were the frame work from which we could go back on anytime in our life and ask is this the way I am living.  If you look at these laws, every boy should have a frame work of them and be able to ask themselves; am I living in the way I should live and how am I suppose to live?  The Boy Scouts came down through the church and if you hear these law you will understand what I mean, and I will quote them to you.

1. Trustworthy (being honest in all things)
2. Loyal (to your family, God, and country)
3. Helpful (be the Good Samaritan to neighbors, family, and those who are in need)
4. Friendly (compassionate, greet people with a smile)
5. Courteous (respectful of others, open the door for somebody)
6. Kind (don’t be a gossip, show compassion and love to those who are in need of it)
7. Obiedant (obeying your father and mother, the laws of the land, and God’s law)
8. Cheerful (be optimistic and look for the good in things)
9. Thrifty (use your money wisely and be a good steward)
10. Brave (don’t be afraid, be of good courage, be strong)
11. Clean (cleanliness of both the physical and mental)
12. Reverent (having reverence to God)

Now you take each one of those and ask trustworthy to whom; trustworthy to God, family and country, loyal to God, family and country.  The Boy Scouts code is ‘On my honor to do my best to do my duty to God and my Country, to keep myself mentally awake, morally straight, and physically strong to the best of my ability’.  When you attend in there meeting they explain the back ground each one of these laws in their manual and it is talked about in the group.  I wish that every boy in the world would have these laws to come back on.  And the Boy Scout law is “Be Prepared”, be prepared for what, for life, for those things that come up in your life, in other words prepare yourself for the challenges of life; that will see you through as time goes on” (Kramer interviewee).
He asked, “What’s the other part of the question?”
“The events in his or her life that form his or her conscience, that’s the first question, if you feel that you have answered that completely then we can move on” (Kramer, interviewer).
“There are events in people’s lives that come about, when I was about 13, Ace, my twin, got appendicitis and he was dieing.  At that time there wasn’t any antibiotics or such that was a cure for a ruptured appendices.  The doctors didn’t even want to do anything with him, but dad made them put him in the hospital and do something.  The doctor put tubes into his gut and constantly flushed the bowels out.  Before that Brother Dubbs who was the Pastor of the Christian Church and Ace and I spent a lot of time with him.  We helped take care of his chickens and the church.  When Ace was dieing, he came over to our house and sat for hours praying and I prayed with him that Ace would not die” (Kramer interviewee).
“Ace slowly recovered and God answered my Dad’s and Brother Dubb’s prayers” (Kramer, interviewer).
“The second question is, what specific ways you followed in the response of the Christian world view” (Kramer, interviewer)?
“Being a Christian and believing in the Word of God, you have to believe in the promises, the prophecies of God and the Revelations.  Never in the history of the world have so many of God’s prophecies have come true, as they have today.  Israel becoming a nation and all the things that are going on today, the wars, the trouble, terrorism, illness, taking God out of schools, public places and so on proves the Word of God and the coming of Christ; all you have to do is look and see what is going on” (Kramer interviewee).
“Is there anything you can think of with your conscience in response to the Christian world view” (Kramer, interviewer)?
.     “The forming of the European Union, everything in the world is in God’s Word is coming true.  Iraq and all of that, like Doctor Dodson says on TV, the end times, the world says the end of the world and we say Armageddon which is the same, but it is very, very close.  Russia is coming in on Israel and so on, but the whole thing is over Israel everybody is talking about Israel.  China and the Arab nations will come in to do away with Israel, but God is going to put a stop to the whole thing.  He is going to say that’s enough!  That’s the end of it, no more fighting.
My gosh, look what’s on TV, we are seeing on the news is the fulfillment of prophecy” (Kramer interviewee).
“Do you think the norms of yesterday and the norms of today are different” (Kramer, interviewer)?
“Yes, they have changed.  God says children will hate their parents; and be disobedient.  It would be as it was in the days of Noah.  The morals of men and women who engage in homosexuality today is a sin in God’s Word.  God looked at them in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah with anger, but with the coming of His Son and the forgiveness He granted to all of us, He now looks at them with compassion but hates the sin.   As soon as women got the pill they started going crazy, sex and family were destroyed, all at the same time.  Violence and crime that our children are allowed to see for entertainment along with the corruption in high places causes them and society to become numb and even good people close their eyes” (Kramer interviewee).
“What goes through your mind when you watch the news today” (Kramer interviewer).
“It saddens me that the values that sustains life as we knew it were completely thrown out the window.  What’s in store for us if we keep on going in the direction we are, you know what the
young men and women today are beginning to wonder what the value of marriage.  Why ever get married, and if they start thinking like that the world that we have known in the past will be destroyed.  I don’t think that I want to live in that kind of world, and I am thankful that God is going to change it all.  When He stops the battle of Armageddon He is going to stop all of that.  The values that He wrote on those 10 Commandments, that he wrote on the tablets are going to be the values that we are going to live by.  Not the values we are developing today” (Kramer interviewee).
“The last question, what are the particular challenges, your world view presents to me and others” (Kramer interviewer).
“In the eyes of God, and what He has laid out in front of us, and what is going on in the world today; the moral fabric of the country is changing drastically, to the point to where your not going to know what to do, because you don’t know how its going to be met in the new society that is coming upon us.  Actually, it is going to be very, very corrupt and is going to challenge your values and principles that you hold.  Other people will challenge you on those values and principles and whether or not you hold to your guns or not depends on you; if you don’t, you will fall into the world trap which God is going to destroy.  You have to keep praying that you will be acceptable and you will be ready.  You don’t have to worry too much if you keep in line with God.  Get ready for tomorrow because it might be the day he calls you up, live day by day.  Stay in the way that God has chosen for you.  Follow your heart and gut feelings when you are in doubt with your mind because He will never lead you astray.  He will protect you from being injured, He will help you when you are weak, and He will direct you.  Be kind to those who persecute you, for the reward is great in heaven and greet everyone with a smile”

(Kramer interviewee).
