THE GIVING OF THANKS

Our day to celebrate Thanksgiving is nearly here, this one holiday of ours is one of the truly last un-comercialized holidays left though they are trying. Thanksgiving is truly a Godly holiday as it is the giving of thanks that is so important and is often neglected in society.

Giving of thanks is such a wonderful thing to do as it takes our eyes off of our self and our self-reliant attitudes and reflects on the giver instead and recognizes the source of the blessings we enjoy each day and year that we live on this earth.

We can thank many things for what we have today. We thank all the men and women who sacrificed their lives so we could have a nation so blessed. We can thank our moms and dads for loving and caring for us as children and we can thank the doctors and nurses who learned the trades of caring for the sick and all the workers who build our roads and railways our cars and planes. We can thank those who built our buildings and cities which all are wonders in themselves as how they sustain themselves with so many to feed and have adequate water supply and sewer disposal systems so we dont become sick from disease.  Thank all the ones who hewed out of the wilderness of our nation the rescources we enjoy today that we just take for granted as part of our heritage. We truly need to be a thankfull people.

We have things because they were given to us, even though we may toil and work long hours to aquire material things it is still God who gave to you a body and a mind that could work build, and when we see those who are less fortunate than us must make us even be more humble and mindful of how frail our existance really is and even be more thankful for in an instant it could all change.

So whatever you do to celebrate this wonderful day of Thanksgiving remember that Jesus Christ gave thanks to the father for the bread and wine, broke the bread drank the wine and then was crucified and gave his life up to us for our sins that we could live forever, only if we would choose to love and give thanks for his wonderful sacrifice of himself.  God is the source of all blessing as all things were and are from him and no other.  Jesus is the Lord as the bible declares.

(John 1:1-4 KJV)  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.(2)  The same was in the beginning with God.(3)  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.(4)  In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

(John 1:11-14 KJV)  He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
(12)  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (13)  Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. (14)  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

(Isa 44:24 KJV)  Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;

Blessings to you from the Lord,
