These steps are only a guide to help
you know Jesus Christ as your Savior, they are not a formula of works,
and the steps are not necessarily in an order in which your heart responds.
Salvation is a matter of faith and the heart.
Salvation By FAITH
in Jesus Christ
Ephesians 4-9 But
God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ,
(by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit
together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to
come he might show the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness
toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith;
and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works,
lest any man should boast.
First:
You must come to Him as you are a
sinner guilty before him
you must have a repentant heart ready to turn from sin no excuses.
We come to him dirty from sin. We cant come to him and say "I got
to do better or I got to quit this bad thing before I can get saved
or like a child who would say "I need to clean up before I can
take a bath." We need to cease from our works
of trying to be good
enough to be saved. Its the bath that cleanses or (CHRIST
DEATH). We can't cleanse ourselves from sin, Jesus does this for us, we must have a willing and
honest heart and He will wash us. Ceasing from sin is a fruit of
repentance proving faith and salvation but that's not what
saves us from our sins. Though ceasing from sin is an
essential part of your salvation and walk with Jesus it is Jesus Christ who
saves you.
Plan Ahead Repent!
.
Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory
of God; Luke 13:5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye
repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
REPENTANCE: True and False
2 Cor 7:10 For
godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but
the sorrow of the world worketh death.
Repentance is the condition of the mind that we
must meet to be able to receive the salvation promised by Jesus Christ
by faith. There are two kinds of repentance one that produces Godly
sorrow and one that produces worldly sorrow. Worldly sorrow is
like being caught doing something wrong and the only thing you regret
is getting caught at it and possibly the fear of consequences would
keep you from doing it again. Godly sorrow is not just regret or
knowing something is wrong, but truly down deep in your heart sorry for
the things you have done and willing to submit to God to be
changed. Some only come to Christ for what they can get and our
selfish believers and our never truly repentant of sin.
The heart is like soil if it isn't prepard right
the seeds won't grow or they will wither and die after it gets
started. If weeds or sin that has not been rooted out is left to grow
then there will be no lasting or true conversion.
Second:
You must believe that Jesus is God come in the flesh
and died on the cross for your sins, He shed his blood and was raised
from the grave on the third day to prove that the penalty of sin was
paid in full.
Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth
the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised
him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
When you believe in something you will have works to
prove your belief. If you have a sturdy chair and you say that it will
hold you up and never sit in it all you have is a profession of faith
and not real faith. If you sit in the chair to prove it will hold you up
you have real faith. So when you believe in Christ you will have works
of repentance that is in restitution or apologies to ones you have offended or
any such work that proves Christ came into your heart. You will produce
fruits of good works as a natural outgrowth of your life.
Third:
You must ask God to save you and forgive all your sins, and ask Jesus
to come into your heart and be your Lord and Savior and take control of
your life.
Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name
of the Lord shall be saved. Rom 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore,
brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living
sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the
renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and
acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
If you really meant these things and you believed
them in your heart then you are really born again. Go and do the Will of
God!
James 1:22 But be ye doers of the word,
and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a
hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his
natural face in a glass: 24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way,
and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25 But whoso
looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he
being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be
blessed in his deed.
